Movie Review --- The Avengers

I wish I had read all of the comic books that my brother had when we were growing up.  I opted for Brenda Starr and Archie instead...what was I thinking?!  So, I wasn't really sure who all the characters were in the Avengers.  I knew about Iron Man from the two previous movies, Capt. America from his movie, and Thor from his movie, of course. But I wasn't very familiar with some of the rest of the characters - Hawkeye, Black Widow, or the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. group, other then the teasers from the previous movies.  But I know them now! (PS: I'm still not quite sure what Black Widow's special powers are...unless it that she lands when thrown and can kick pretty well.  That's all I can figure out.)

Truly a spectacular movie with a lot, lot, LOT of action directed by Joss Josh Whedon, who I absolutely love from Firefly and Serenity (yes..I'm a brown-coat.  Please, Joss Josh, please...consider doing a prequel Firefly movie during the war with the brown-coats...I'm begging you.) You can definitely see Joss Josh Whedon's trade-mark humor in this movie, with lots of tension relieving laughs.  The entire theater just roared when the Hulk dealt with Loki...I won't ruin the laughs.  You have to go to see it.

The new Hulk was played by Mark Ruffalo, and he did a great job, and all I can say is...thank goodness he's a member of the Avengers team.  Things might not have gone as well for them.  Robert Downey Jr. did another great job with Iron Man -- and I'll tease you with a bit of news that he and Pepper have taken their relationship to another level (oh yeah.....)! Thor is just gorgeous to look at (sigh...) and he really needs to toughen up about his brother.  Give it up, Thor.  He's not feelin' the love.
If you go, remember not to leave until the credits run totally.  They ALWAYS tease the next movie after the credits.  Just sayin....
