Mimi's Summer Day Camp - Day Three

Our theme this week is Leaves (Their Shapes, Color and Feel), so we started with a trip to Lost Maples State Natural Area.  I totally love Lost Maples, we took so many trips here as the kids were growing up, many times with other family members and cousins.  I think our kids think of it very fondly, and I hope KT will love it as much as we do.
We walked the Maple Trail today, watching for leaves of different textures, colors and shapes.  We found quite a few, one that felt like sandpaper!  KT is tracing the letters on the sign above.  She is really getting the whole idea of the sounds of letters and how they work into reading.  She's gonna get it real soon!
Our favorite rock!  We call it the shark rock, and her mamma always called it the Pac-Man rock.
KT and her Grumps!  These two are like peas and carrots...inseparable!
We discovered this little froggy crossing the road.  KT almost had him, but he hopped away....
Taking a water break!  It was warm, but there's usually shade on the trail to give you a break from the heat.
After our hike we had a picnic at one of the picnic tables...sandwiches and fruit.  Some delicious watermelon really gave it the summer feel!
We had a fun day!  When we got back home we pressed our leaves in a huge book so we could do something with them on Thursday....stay tuned!
