Rest in Peace, Carlie
December 5, 2012
Today we lost our best buddy. Our Carlie has been having a bad year, she's slowly been declining to the point where her back legs were not working well, one hip was giving her lots of trouble, and she was losing control of her bladder and bowels. I'm sharing this because we had to make a horribly HARD decision this week. Some mornings it would take her several hours to get up once she laid down. We knew we were only being selfish in keeping her with us, so John made an appointment with the vet. She's in a much better place tonight.
This has been, without a doubt, the sweetest dog we've ever had. Carlie made it her job to take care of all of us, including all the other animals we have here. She has been our chicken guard dog. She has been our KT nanny, always having to be near when KT was here, keeping an eye on her. Every day, wherever I am, she wanted to be with me. She adored John. She used to follow him everywhere on our place while he was working, back when she able to. Watching her decline has been a painful process.
We love you, Carlie, and we'll miss you every day.
