Well, well... who is this?
I found this when I was cleaning out an old wallet of mine. Yes, that's our Colleen... looking a bit like KT, isn't she!?

Babies are babies, no matter the species...
This little video that I found on iOwnTheWorld.com just made me giggle....
Just put a sprinkler out in the yard and the kids go crazy! Enjoy!

Pappa's gravesite
We visited Dad's gravesite this past weekend, on Father's day. Colleen took some great pictures because she wanted to document the dates and names. The last one is my dad's mom and dad, Bruno and Mary.

Happy Father's Day
to the great dad's in my family! I can't tell you how much your families have gained and learned from you all. I love you!
My dad, Herbert "Sonny" Russell Schwencke....I miss you, Dad. Wish you were here. You'd just love our new little KT.
My husband and the father to my two wonderful kids, John Forsythe....you've been the best dad any kids could have. And it shows!
and the newest father in our family, our son-in-law, Jeff Koenig... you're doing such a great job, Jeff! Your little KT just loves you, she'll have you wrapped around her little finger in no time!
"She was starin’ out the window of that suv
Complainin’ saying i cant wait to turn 18
I’ll make my own money and I’ll make my own rules
mama put the car in park out there in front of the school
and she kissed her head and said i was just like you
your gonna miss this
your gonna want this back
your gonna wish these days
hadn’t gone by so fast
these are some good times
so take a good look around
you may not know it now
but your gonna miss this
before she knows it shes a brand new bride
in her one bedroom apartment and her daddy stops by
he tells her its a nice place, she says itll do for now
starts talkin bout babies and buyin a house
daddy shakes his head and says, baby slow down
cause your gonna miss this
your gonna want this back
your gonna wish these days
hadnt gone by so fast
these are some good times
so take a good look around
you may not know it now
but your gonna miss this
five years later theres a plumber workin on the water heater,
dogs barkin, phones ringin, one kids crying
ones screamin and she keeps apoligizin
he says they dont bother me ive got 2 babies of my own
ones 36, ones 23, huh its hard to believe
but your gonna miss this
your gonna want this back
your gonna wish these days
hadn’t gone by so fast
these are some good times
so take a good look around
you may not know it now
but your gonna miss this
your gonna miss this
oh yeah, your gonna miss this"

The Blue Bell Baby!
Grammy and Grumps bought her this little shirt on our recent trip to Brenham. Just think how happy she'll be once she actually gets to eat some of their ice cream!
Movie Review -- The Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time
First, let me say that this is not the movie I wanted to see tonight. I was so psyched to go see The A Team.
But, since it's Father's Day Weekend I figured I had to let John pick the movie, and he was anti-A Team for some reason. Colleen and Jeff had just seen this one recently and recommended it, so we went to see it, figuring that it had been out for several weeks already and we'd have the entire theater to ourselves. WRONG. The theater was packed! Packed! PACKED!
I'm so glad I got talked into going to see this movie! It was the perfect Saturday afternoon movie matinee that you may remember from your childhood....the good guy hero, the damsel in distress, the evil bad guy, the funny sidekick (and some hilarious ostrich races (I know, random, huh? But it worked!)
I heartly recommend it to you as a fun two hours.
PS: I know, you're probably saying the same thing I was saying before I went. I cannot imagine Jake Gyllenhall in ancient Persia. Really, who was casting this thing? But, to my amazement, he did a decent job of it. I was really surprised. Good job, Jake.

Busy, busy, busy ...
remodeling our bedroom/sitting room. Could NOT take that beige on beige on beige another minute. I needed color!! This is called "Ginkho Tree" and it's a deep army green. Love it. The room feels like a quiet cave.
Plus, the carpet had taken the worse of our past puppies and my terrible coffee and tea habit. I promise I'll never buy berber carpet again, it definitely shows every single flaw and stain. I've hated it since we had it installed. We're putting down laminate )(Pergo) on the floor that we have in the rest of the house and changing the sitting room into an office.
THEN we're making the current office into the grandchildren's room....assuming KT doesn't have the whole room to herself forever... ???
Anyway, here's the progress so far.

My strawberry jars....
I ended up with these two strawberry jars after JR and Ashley's wedding. I've always wanted one, they seem kind of cool, old school, don't they. One is filled with the wedding succulents and the other with herbs. I've already started using the herbs in the kitchen, and I can tell you, it's so much easier to just walk out the door and "pinch" what you need. I used to have to walk all the way down to the herb garden. Enough of that! ha ha! Lazy, I know....
But they look pretty neat, no?

Day Two in Brenham, Texas
On day two we enjoyed a leisurely morning starting with a gourmet breakfast at the Brenham House Bed and Breakfast created by our host and hostess, Susan and James Lopez. We started with a homemade sorbet, enjoyed a lovely breakfast of deviled egg benedict, cherry tomatoes with herbs, and ending with pancakes garnished with whipped cream and cherries. Yummmm! Several of the ingredients were from their kitchen garden in the backyard. Sigh. Wish I could eat like that every day (you know, where someone else does the cooking and cleaning up!) Ha!
After a nice chat and that great meal, we set out for the Antique Rose Emporium. What a great place -- their mission has been to save heirloom roses and other plants, taking cuttings from old homesteads and graveyards in Texas, along country roads, etc. They have quite a collection. Of course, I bought a beautiful rose to commemorate the birth of our first grandbaby this year - I found the Katherina Zeimet, as KT's name is Katherine. We also bought several other plants for the yard. It's hard not to go crazy there, so be warned!
After the garden, we stopped at the Windy Winery since it was nearby. Had a great tasting of the wines they make and bought a few bottles to share with friends. Very nice couple and great to talk to.
A stroll through the downtown antique and knick-knack shops followed.
Then back into town to see the Blue Bell Creamery and find out where the "little taste of heaven" is made. What a bustling place! Crowded! We had a cute little film about the history of the company and then got to see the production and filling lines. They were making vanilla (they run vanilla every day since it is the #1 most popular flavor) and a berry flavor that day. Another room was where they were making several of the stick novelties, and ice cream sandwiches. Nice that they are not open on the weekends - they like to close so that their employees have the weekends off. Must be a nice place to work. We ended with a scoop of our choice of flavors. I took "Grooms cake" and John stuck with a favorite of his, "Chocolate Mint."
We finished off the day at the Pleasant Hill Winery "Wind Down" where we had some great wine and a cheese tray out on their great deck. This was obviously a favorite of the locals because they had a pretty steady business. Of course, we brought a few bottles home to try another day.
All in all, Friday was great fun. It's all we could do to get back to our cute little room at the BandB and crash! More tomorrow!
