Our barn swallows are back!

They have a permanent nest above our front door and they do us the honor of letting us watch them raise their new batch of youngsters every year.  It's probably been for the past 5 or 6 years.  The babies have hatched because I found this egg shell on the porch below the nest this morning.  They are such fun to watch, swooping in and out feeding their young.  Good parents that both stay in the nest in the nights to watch their babes.

Dog Sitting!

We're dog sitting again... another grand-dog!  This is Winston and this is what Winston does all day long.  Easy job...

The wedding was fantabulous!!

The weather was great and we all had a grand time! The bride and groom were both glowing! I'm so happy for them both!

My son...

is getting married this Saturday.  I'm passing him on to another woman who is and will be perfect for him (and actually said "yes!)  I can see the love they have for each other every time they are together, even when she get's put out about his strong opinions about things. We do love to debate at our house...so sorry!
They have so much in common it's like they were meant to be together.  I'm so happy for them and can't wait to see "what's next."
Much love,
Mom!
PS: Like we said to Jeff, "No returns!"
The picture says "1978" on the back.  JR would have been around 2 years old here.

From my dad's garden...

Years ago, Mom divided and dug up some of Dad's iris in their yard.

Big, beautiful purple bearded iris.

That man could grow anything.  She gave me some of the roots, and we put a few in a couple of places.  Most years they've just barely hung in there, but the last couple of years they have really gained steam.

Today they bloomed!!
Gorgeous!
Thank you, dad!

I don't mind paying taxes, but....

It would be a lot more cheerfully if I thought it was in any way fair.  It seems like the more we work, the harder we work, the longer the day, the longer the week ...
the more is taken away from us.
I hate this system.
It's broke.

Unexpected big star sighting in an old movie...

Watching an old movie tonight on Showtime, Wes Cravens Dracula 2000.  Surprised to see several big stars here - Gerard Butler as Dracula!! Wow.  He's very young here.  I almost didn't recognize him until he smiled, and there was that crooked smile of his.
Just saw Nathan Fillion as a priest, also very young looking. How come I never saw this before.
Omar Epps, Christopher Plummer, Johnny Lee Miller (did you know he was Angelina Jolie's first husband?)

Easter 2010

Easter was great!  Lots of family and catching up.  KT slept through most of it and really wasn't that impressed with her basket.  Oh well, maybe next year!  See all of the pictures here: http://picasaweb.google.com/JohnandPatForsythe/Easter2010#

Happy Easter!

Hope everyone is having a happy Easter!  Can't wait until I can get my grandbaby one of these!!  Wonder if Jeff & Colleens HOA has any restrictions on backyard chicks??

Movie Review -- Clash of the Titans

Enjoyed it for what it was, about 1-3/4 hours of good old fashioned Saturday afternoon matinee movie going. The action and acting was fine, but there are a few things that I could pick at if I just had to. I really don't have to, but here they are if you are wondering.

Perseus has a shaved head while everyone else in the entire movie has long, braided, felted, curly, crazy, dirty, or snaky hair. It was jolting and irritating to me. It didn't fit. It was distracting to the movie. Did he refuse to have a wig, or what?

I didn't feel like the 3D effect was all that effective in the movie. They seemed to fall back into the old-school tricks of throwing a dagger or spear at the audience (cheesy!) For the additional cost of this type of movie (here in San Antonio we paid $18 for two at a matinee, which is WAY high for our area.) I think it would have been just as good without it. And for that matter, 1-3/4 hours long for a much anticipated, 3D movie was way too short. I felt a little cheated out of the extra 15 to 20 minutes...where did it go?

Just so you know, John disagrees with all of my criticisms, so I may just be picking on the movie. I say go see for yourself. Sam Worthington seems to be going for the "king of 3D" title, doesn't he?
